Which browsers does Autocater support?
Autocater works in Chrome and browsers built on it, including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera & Opera GX, Vivaldi, and Arc. Firefox and Safari are not supported yet.
Does Autocater store my resume on the internet?
No. Your profiles, resume details, and application history are saved in your browser, not on our servers. If you choose an AI feature (like reading your resume or drafting an answer), only the text needed is sent through our server to an AI provider that does not train on it or keep it long-term, and Autocater does not save it. If you buy Pro, we keep your email address and license so we can send and restore your key.
Will Autocater submit my application automatically without me looking?
Never. Autocater is an assistive tool that populates the inputs on your screen. You always remain in complete control to review every answer before you manually click "Next" or "Submit Application".
Can I create multiple profiles (e.g. for different types of jobs)?
Yes! Click the "+ New" button in the extension popup to create multiple tailored profiles (for example, "Product Manager", "Software Engineer", or "Remote Roles"). You can switch between them with one click.
What should I do if a custom question on a form doesn't fill?
You can add any unique question as a Custom Field. In the popup, click "+ Add Field", type the name of the question and your default answer. Next time you encounter that question on any company site, Autocater will fill it automatically.
How do I backup my data or move to a new computer?
Open the extension Settings (the gear icon) and click “Backup Everything” under Data & Backup. This downloads a complete, safe backup file containing all your candidate profiles, custom fields, tracked job applications, and personalized settings. On your new computer, simply click “Restore Backup” to restore your entire setup in 1 second.
What are Career Highlights and how do they work with AI?
In Settings under Career Highlights (For AI Answers), you can write down your key career accomplishments, years of experience, and target roles. When an application asks subjective questions (e.g. “Why this role?” or “Describe a major project”), the on-page “Draft with AI” button uses this background to write a tailored answer that highlights your genuine strengths.
Why does Autocater block Word (.docx) resumes?
For your safety! Word files can contain hidden executable macros and malicious scripts. Autocater accepts clean, secure PDF files and reads them on your device.
How do I activate Autocater Pro or restore my purchase?
When you purchase an Autocater Pro Pass or Monthly Flex via our secure checkout, your unique License Key is immediately displayed on your purchase confirmation screen and emailed to your receipt inbox. Open the Autocater popup, click the Settings gear icon, paste your license key into the Autocater Pro License input, and click Activate. Tip: Please keep your confirmation receipt or email safe so you can reactivate anytime if you switch computers or reinstall your browser.
Why does Autocater ask to "Read and change all your data on all websites"?
Job applications are hosted across thousands of independent company career portals and ATS platforms (e.g., Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby, SmartRecruiters, Taleo, SAP SuccessFactors). Access to all sites enables autofill functionality on any job portal you visit without restricting your job search. Autocater only reads form fields on pages that look like job applications, or when you click autofill. Your saved profiles stay in your browser.
